1. Austin, Texas, saw its population of seniors increase more than 50 percent between 2000 and 2010, The Fiscal Times reported. 2. Las Vegas, Nevada, also had a 50 percent growth rate in its number of seniors between 2000 and 2010, The Fiscal Times said. 3. Boise, Idaho, is an ideal getaway for retirees with a senior population growth of 46 percent between 2000 and 2010, according to The Fiscal Times. It may seem secluded, but the city has plenty of cultural attractions, including museums, opera, a philharmonic orchestra, and ballet. With a number of medical centers in the area, Boise has been considered one of the top retirement destinations in the country.

4. Raleigh, North Carolina, provides a lively university area that also attracts a growing number of seniors. The area has mild seasonal weather with top-rated medical facilities, according to NerdWallet.

5. Atlanta, Georgia, has a low cost of living with pleasant weather year-round, NerdWallet pointed out. There are plenty of retirement communities in the city as well as in the suburbs of Marietta and Sandy Springs to make the area one of the fast-growing retirement places in the country.

6. Hawaii offers seniors one of the best retirement places if they have money to spend. It may be a little bit more expensive than other retirement spots, but Forbes noted a MoneyRates.com report in 2012 that stated people in Hawaii live longer past age 65 than in any other state.

7. St. George, Utah, has one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country and is one of the most popular retirement places in a state that attracts many retirees, according to TopRetirements.com. There is warm weather in the summer and a mild climate in the winter. There are many golf courses and the Zion National Park nearby.
