In the cash-flow quadrant of Robert Kiyosaki, about 5% of the world’s population are investors.

Have you ever pondered why there are so few people in this quadrant?

GOBankingRates recently surveyed 508 non-investors to find out why some Americans are reluctant to invest their money. The results revealed that 55% of non-investors think they don’t earn enough money to invest, 15% think they don’t have enough time to invest, 9% think they don’t know how to invest while 8% are afraid to lose their money.

Just like savings, investment is a conscious effort and essential for creating and growing wealth. Exploring financial-investment opportunities is a good start if you’re among the 9% of non-investors who think they don’t know how to invest.

Here are five financial investment opportunities you can utilize to watch your wealth grow over a period of time:

  1. Treasury Securities

Treasury securities consist of Treasury bills (T-bills), Treasury notes (T-notes) and Treasury bonds (T-bonds).This is certainly one of the best financial-investment options due to how secured this investment portfolio is. Treasury securities are issued by the U.S. government to raise money to finance projects and debt servicing.

In terms of yield, Treasury securities have low interest rates but the rates are higher than that of savings accounts. The value of the securities fluctuates since the interest rates are unstable and the choice of your investment will determine your yield. The lower your investment (principal and maturity), the less your securities will generally return and vice versa. However, it is a risk-free investment because Treasury securities are backed by the U.S. government. Getting interest and your principal back at maturity isn’t a big deal.

  1. Mutual Funds

A mutual fund is a type of financial vehicle made up of a pool of money collected from many investors to invest in securities such as stocks, bonds, money-market instruments, and other assets. Mutual funds are operated by professional money managers, who allocate the fund's assets and attempt to produce capital gains or income for the fund's investors, according to Investopedia.

Mutual funds are considered to have low risk and yield a considerable return on investment. They are many mutual funds available to choose from. However, you need professional advice to make good investment choice as factors such as mutual funds’ historical and current performance, risk and other metrics are considered.

  1. Real Estate Investment

Real estate is a high-yielding investment option but requires huge financial commitment. The values of land properties are always on the rise and wise real-estate investors are leveraging on this to make huge returns. It’s very simple: Commit your finances to land and property acquisition, and then watch the value grow within 2 to 5 years.

REIT (real-estate investment trusts) is another option in real-estate investment. This platform allows you to invest in real estate by connecting you to companies that own and manage commercial real estate, such as apartments and office buildings. Once you commit your finances to their real-estate projects, you’ll be entitled to high dividends without having to worry about the day to day hassles of managing the real estate.

  1. Forex Trading

The global forex market does more than $4.5 trillion in average daily trading volume, making it the largest financial market in the world. Forex is undoubtedly a high-risk market but offers the best return on investment if trading goes your way. This is simply the best example of making your money work for you and sleeping while you make enormous amount of money.

However, turning a profit from forex trading isn’t easy since it has risks and potential for profitability or loss. One actually needs to diligently learn about forex to stand a chance of making consistent profits. Also, having trading strategies, financial advisers, mentors and forex brokers are integral to a trader’s success.

Investing requires positive mindset, sheer will and determination, knowledge and commitment. Don’t focus on the excuses for not investing; rather explore financial investment opportunities that are within your reach to grow your wealth for bigger investment options.
