Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders took shots at the Electoral College Monday, saying the system needs to be changed.
Sanders' criticisms of America's method of electing its presidents came on the same day President-elect Donald Trump was voted as the official winner of last month's election. Electors from across the nation met in their home states to cast their electoral votes.
The Electoral College has been used to elect every president in the nation's history, starting with the 69 (out of 69) votes George Washington received in the 1788-89 election.
After Hillary Clinton lost to Trump in last month's election, some Democrats have echoed Sanders' call to change, or even abolish, the Electoral College.
