Hillary Clinton showed Thursday that she is "clearly feeling the heat of Donald Trump" because she devoted so much of her nomination acceptance speech attacking her Republican opponent, former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey told Newsmax TV.
"It was a very unusual acceptance speech," McCaughey told host J.D. Hayworth on the "Newsmax TV DNC Convention Special" in an interview.
"Generally, the candidate does not spend most of the speech cutting down or criticizing the nominee of the other party," she added. "That's generally left to others at the convention, especially the vice presidential nominee.
"Mrs. Clinton is clearly feeling the heat of Donald Trump because she directed almost all of her speech at criticizing Donald Trump, suggesting that he does not have the character to serve as commander-in-chief."
McCaughey also slammed Clinton's "claim to be making history" as the first female nominee of a major political party.
"She is urging voters to make history by electing her president, but I would remind voters to remember history — her history," she told Hayworth. "She has really gotten everywhere she has on her husband's coattails, contrary to her own claim that she has shattered glass ceilings."
