If Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders wins the presidency the U.S. economy will collapse as corporations fled for greener pastures, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly said Monday.

"The media loves to mock Donald Trump for dubious things he says. But Sanders makes Trump look like Abraham Lincoln!" he said in the opening segment of "The O'Reilly Factor."

The self-proclaimed democratic socialist Sanders wants to destroy Wall Street and the big banks, provide each American with "free healthcare kind of," provide free college tuition and childcare for millions of Ameircans and mandatory family leave, O'Reilly said.

"A list of Sanders' freebies is endless," he said. "The unintended consequences is simple: a bankrupt nation."

The nearly $20 trillion debt would double under his administration, forcing many American corporations leave the country and go overseas, devastating the economy, he said.

"Does Bernie Sanders not understand any of this?" he asked. "The USA would turn into Venezuela. That's why Bernie Sanders will not be president."

Sanders is "very entertaining," though "when he unloads on his opponent, Hillary Clinton," O'Reilly said. "If the Republicans cannot beat the Democratic Party in 2016, when will they ever beat it?"
