Ahead of Monday night's debate between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, a Clinton campaign staffer asks that "both candidates be treated the same and really be fact-checked through the process."
"We have something unprecedented with Donald Trump. As you said, he's never run for office before, but we've also never had a candidate before who says so many things that prove to not be true," Kristina Schake, the former secretary of state's Deputy Communications Director, said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" Monday.
"Politico did a story that there's something he says every three minutes and 15 seconds that proves not to be true and 70 percent of the campaigns — that he's made in the campaign prove to be false," Schake continued.
Schake cites a recent Politico Magazine article that tracked both candidate's statements over the course of five days. By their count, Trump made "87 erroneous statements" during that time.
"Trump averaged about one falsehood every three minutes and 15 seconds over nearly five hours of remarks," Politico states. Clinton averages "one falsehood every 12 minutes," but made only "eight erroneous statements in five days."
Host Ainsley Earhardt quickly pointed out Clinton's poor trustworthiness rating in recent polls.
"She's not been rated," Schake responded. "Politico called him the political liar of 2016. She's going to be talking tonight about what she would do. They understand she would be a fighter for American families in the Oval Office.
"She knows trust is not earned overnight. People have questions and she's eager to get out and talk about it. "
