CNN/ORC Poll: Sanders Pulling Away From Hillary in Iowa

Sen. Bernie Sanders has opened an 8-point lead in Iowa over Democrat presidential rival Hillary Clinton in a new CNN/ORC poll released Thursday.

Here are the results:

Among likely Democratic primary caucus-goers:
  • Sanders: 51 percent.
  • Clinton: 43 percent.
  • Martin O'Malley: 4 percent.
On who likely caucus-goers trust on the economy:

Sanders: 58 percent.
Clinton: 36 percent.
O'Malley: 3 percent.

On who they prefer on health care:
  • Sanders: 51 percent.
  • Clinton: 45 percent.
  • O'Malley: 2 percent.
On foreign policy likely Democrat caucus-goers gave the edge to Clinton:
  • Clinton: 65 percent.
  • Sanders: 25 percent.
  • O'Malley: 6 percent.
When asked who "Best represents the values of Democrats like yourself":
  • Sanders: 57 percent.
  • Clinton: 38 percent.
  • O'Malley: 5 percent.
Has best chance of winning general election:
  • Clinton: 60 percent.
  • Sanders: 38 percent.
  • O'Malley: 0 percent.
Who would do most to help middle class:
  • Sanders: 67 percent.
  • Clinton: 30 percent.
  • O'Malley: 2 percent.
The poll surveyed 2,002 Iowa adults by telephone from Jan. 15-20, including 280 likely Democratic caucus-goers. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus six percentage points.
