Two polls were released Sunday showing vastly different results in the Florida governor's race.
A new
Zogby Analytics poll shows Democrat Charlie Crist has opened up a seven-point lead on Republican incumbent Gov. Rick Scott in a race that has been tight for months.
But
Public Policy Polling found the two tighter than ever, with a statistically insignificant difference between them. Crist leads that poll 44.0 percent to Scott's 43.8 percent.
Libertarian Adrian Wyllie pulled in 6 percent in the PPP survey, and could spoil Crist's hopes, PPP said. Those who support Wyllie would prefer Crist by 25 percentage points, PPP said, and if Wyllie were not in the election Crist would lead Scott 47/46.
In the Zogby poll, Crist has pulled ahead 45 percent to 38 percent just two days before the election. Wyllie has 8 percent in that poll, and 9 percent are undecided.
Zogby rated the race by region, finding that Scott leads in the Republican-leaning northern part of the state 48 to 34 percent, but Crist leads the Democratic south 53 percent to 30 percent. Crist also leads in the swing region known as the I-4 Corridor 47 percent to 38 percent.
The Zogby poll talked to 688 likely Florida voters and was conducted online October 28-31. It has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.8 percentage points.
PPP surveyed 1,198 likely voters Nov. 1-2 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 points.
