Wednesday night's presidential debate got a bit testy when the issue of immigration was brought up.
Moderator Chris Wallace asked Trump about his plan for "major deportations" of illegal immigrants if he becomes president.
"First of all, [Hillary Clinton] wants to give amnesty, which is a disaster and very unfair to all of the people waiting in line for many, many years. We need strong borders," Trump said.
Trump then spoke about stopping the flow of drugs coming across America's southern border, which he said would be possible by building a wall.
"We have no country if we have no border," Trump said.
Clinton fired back by saying she opposes a mass deportation of illegals living in the U.S.
"You're right, I don't want to rip families apart," Clinton said. "I don't want to be sending parents away from children. I don't want to see the deportation force that Donald has talked about in action in our country."
From there, the discussion grew heated.
Clinton took a shot at Trump by saying "he choked" by not bringing up the construction of a border wall when he met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.
Trump fired back, saying he had a "very good meeting" with Nieto, and added Clinton was actually in favor of building a wall 10 years ago.
"There are some limited places where that was appropriate," Clinton said.
Trump furthered the back-and-forth by telling the audience Clinton is also for open borders. Wallace asked Clinton about that and cited a speech she gave to a Brazilian bank in which she said, "My dream is a hemispheric common market with open trade and open borders."
Trump playfully thanked Wallace for bringing up that fact before Clinton responded.
"Well, if you went on to read the rest of the [speech], I was talking about energy," she said. "You know, we trade more energy with our neighbors than we trade with the rest of the world combined."
Clinton turned the conversation from immigration to Russia by slamming America's Cold War enemy for allegedly providing WikiLeaks with hacked documents and emails from her.
"That was a great pivot off the fact that she wants open borders," Trump said. "OK?"
