President Barack Obama is forging ahead with sweeping immigration reform against the wishes of Republicans on Capitol Hill because he believes he has complete immunity from the law, conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza says.
"This is a man who has been spoiled rotten since he was a kid. Ever since he has been president, we have to admit that he has been on a sixth-year honeymoon," D'Souza said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

"The fact of the matter is that most of the media has allowed Obama to get away with it. He knows that and therefore, in a sense, he acts as if he's with complete immunity.
"As long as we have a court here of press.... Obama can act like the duke or the dauphin and just do whatever he wants. He has been spoiled by a certain kind of immunity that he's enjoyed."
But his reign is nearly over, according to D'Souza.
"Now that we have a Republican Senate and a Republican House it's time for that honeymoon to end," he said.
"Obama is the chief executive. The legislature makes laws. His job is to carry them out. What he's basically saying is he's gotten annoyed, getting impatient, so he's not going to carry out the laws.
"That's the classic definition of lawlessness. It's particularly dismaying that it's coming from the chief executive."
In September, D'Souza was sentenced to eight months of community service and five years of probation after pleading guilty to charges of using straw donors to support the New York Senate campaign of a longtime friend, Wendy Long.
D'Souza, creator of the documentary "2016: Obama's America," which was critical of the commander-in-chief, has maintained he was targeted by the Obama administration for his political beliefs.
