Before the debate between the vice presidential nominees, Donald Trump slammed CNN and said he would watch the debate on Fox News.

In a tweet, he said that CNN's discussion panel "is a joke," so he was turning to Fox News, which gives his campaign a "fair shake."

During the debate, Trump posted graphics and retweets in support of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, his vice presidential nominee, and after the debate, praised Pence's performance.

Trump has frequently criticized CNN's coverage of his campaign. In August, The Week collected some of Trump's messages about the network.

Clinton also praised her running mate after the debate, on Twitter:

Conservative leaders praised Pence's performance, while a Trump adviser said that Trump was not happy with Pence after the debate, despite praising him.
