Hillary Clinton is crushing Democratic presidential primary rival Sen. Bernie Sanders in Florida — fueled in large part by the former secretary of state's strong support from black and Hispanic voters, a new poll shows.
The University of North Florida survey gives Clinton 54 percent support, while the Vermont lawmaker has 24 percent,
Politico Florida reports.
The survey shows among African-Americans, Clinton tops Sanders 67-12 percent in Florida, Hispanics favor her 66-22 percent, and among non-Hispanic white voters, she leads with about 48-30 percent, Politico Florida reports.
Among women voters, Clinton is the pick 58-20 percent over Sanders. Men back her 49-20 percent.
The findings reflect the trouble Sander's campaign is having in attracting minority voters, who
solidly backed Clinton in South Carolina, where she took 74 percent of the vote Saturday.
"She deserves to go back to the White House, but this time as the commander in chief," Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson said at a rally in Miami on Sunday, Politico Florida reports.
"If we elect Donald Trump, all of [President Barack] Obama's hard work will be wiped out."
The poll has a margin of error of 3.74 percentage points.
