Donald Trump says he's good with Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes, whom he called a "good friend" and a "good guy" Wednesday on
Laura Ingraham's syndicated show.
Asked by Ingraham if he was over "this Fox thing," Trump said he had spoken to Ailes "two minutes ago," and "Roger Ailes is great. He’s a special guy and a good friend of mine. We just spoke two minutes ago. I mean, Roger Ailes is a great guy and no, I have no problem."
Ingraham also asked him about his comments Tuesday and a retweet of posts on Monday night about Megyn Kelly that referred to her as a "bimbo." Trump said he liked her Tuesday night show.
"Actually, I watched her show last night. She was very nice and I appreciated it. She had Frank Luntz on, who said I scored the highest score that he’s ever had. I said, 'What’s going on over here? What happened?'"
Trump told Ingraham he didn't understand what the issue was over the tweets. "They made a big deal out of that and I just don’t see… that was a retweet. I do have a lot of things I want to get out," he said, but he had no plans to attack Kelly again.
Trump and Ailes appeared to have reached a truce earlier this month after Trump went after Kelly, one of the network's most popular anchors, following her tough questioning of Trump during the Aug. 6 first GOP presidential debate over his comments about women.
Trump seemed to be over the issue, though he implied in an interview with
Newsmax TV that Kelly's "vacation" might have really been punishment for her treatment of him. Fox said the vacation had been scheduled for months and coincided with scheduled time off for several other Fox anchors.
When she returned at the start of this week, Trump took to Twitter late that night to criticize Kelly and retweeted a post that referred to her as a "bimbo," prompting Ailes to fire back on Tuesday.
