Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has gone over the line in accusing her of being bought by special interests.
"Time and time again, by insinuation, there is this attack that he is putting forth, which really comes down to, you know, anybody who ever took donations or speaking fees from any interest group has to be bought," Clinton said during Thursday's Democratic presidential debate.
"I just absolutely reject that, senator," she said. "I really don't think these kinds of attacks by insinuation are worthy of you. Enough is enough. If you've got something to say, say it directly."
Clinton said she never changed her view or vote because of a donation she received.
"I think it's time to end the artful smear that you and your campaign have been carrying out in recent weeks, and let's talk about the issues that divide us," she said.
"Let's talk about issues," Sanders agreed. "Let's talk about why in the 1990s Wall Street got deregulated. Did it have anything to do with the fact that Wall Street provided … spent billions of dollars on lobbying and campaign contributions? Well, some people might think that had some influence."
