 Huckabee: Monitor Mosques for Radicalism

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee called for monitoring of American mosques during Tuesday's undercard GOP presidential debate.

"When people say we can’t go into the mosques and we can't listen, that’s utter nonsense. Of course we can," said Huckabee, pointing out that churches and mosques are public places where all are free to listen to sermons.

If a mosque doesn't want someone in, that might be a sign surveillance is needed, he said.

"Islam is different," former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum said. "Islam is not just a religion. It is also a political governing structure. The idea that that is protected under the First Amendment is wrong. And in fact it is that political structure that is a big problem."

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham took umbrage at that.

"There are at least 3,500 Muslims serving in the American armed forces. Thank you for your service. You are not the enemy. Your religion is not the enemy," Graham said. "Leave the faith alone. Go after the radicals that kill us all."
