Jeb Bush said Tuesday that he was taking his race for the Republican presidential nomination to South Carolina regardless of the outcome in the New Hampshire primary.
The former Florida governor has events scheduled in Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head on Wednesday — and the campaign is going to stick with the town hall format with voters, he told Jake Tapper
on CNN.
"The town hall format is a really good one for a time of real cynicism because people get to say what they think," Bush said. "It's pretty cool."
He said that running for the nomination has made him "a much better candidate — more incisive.
"It's validated my love of country and my belief that we're on the verge of greatness, just listening to people talk," Bush said of how the campaign has affected him. "It's made me more patient.
"I've never been a patient man. I'm impatient by nature.
"It's strengthened my resolve, because it's not an easy process," Bush told Tapper. "When you see people write you off pretty consistently and you have the determination to prove them wrong, it's kind of rewarding in that regard."
