Twitter Mercilessly Mocks Jeb's Gun Tweet

The Twitterverse took direct aim at presidential candidate Jeb Bush after he tweeted out a photo Tuesday of a handgun with his name engraved on the top. The simple caption: "America."



Mashable reported that Bush received the weapon after a visit to the FN Manufacturing plant in Columbia, South Carolina.

"Prior to that, Bush was not a gun owner," Mashable said.

Bush has been trailing in the polls, "So Tuesday's visit was as good a time as any to exercise his Second Amendment Rights," the website added.

Memes mocking the tweet began immediately, including from Mashable itself, which Photoshopped the engraved name to read,"Please Clap," a reference to Bush's recent plea to supporters who weren't very enthusiastic to his stump speech.

Most tweets also had the simple caption "America," including one with a photo of actress America Ferrera:
An Australian user tweeted out a picture of a Nerf gun, noting that guns have been made illegal in his country:
