Twitter users may be mocking GOP presidential candidate
Jeb Bush after he tweeted a photo of a handgun with his name on top and the single-word caption of "America," but the former Florida governor said Wednesday he tweeted out the gun because he wanted to show his support for the Second Amendment.
"I'm an A+ rated NRA governor," Bush told
Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program, referring to the ratings the National Rifle Association gives to gun-friendly lawmakers.
"I got to act on my beliefs that the Second Amendment is an important part of our Bill of Rights."
Bush received the engraved handgun while at a town hall meeting on Tuesday in South Carolina with employees at the FN Manufacturing plant in Columbia, South Carolina.
Before that, he had not owned a gun, reports
Mashable.
"I was given a gun and I was honored to receive it," said Bush, explaining that the tweet "meant nothing more than that it was appreciation for receiving a gun at a manufacturer that makes the gun. And a lot of jobs are created because of that."
