Rep. Blackburn: I'd Consider Veep Invite

Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn says she would be open to an offer as vice president on a Republican ticket, but said she knows nothing of rumors that she is being considered.

"I don’t know of anybody that would not consider it," Blackburn told The Hill.

The Nashville Post reported on speculation that an offer could be headed Blackburn's way.

Were she to become vice president, Blackburn would be the first woman to hold the office, and she told The Hill that could be important for her party.

"I think that people realize that Republicans need a female on the ticket," she said to make the case for the GOP nominee.

Blackburn was asked about front-runner Donald Trump's defense of Planned Parenthood, and responded that Trump probably does not realize the organization is no longer in the business of providing women's health services and mostly runs abortion clinics now.

"I think Trump is speaking from what he knows, and maybe I need to go fill him in," she said, laughing.
