The Republican Party is "committed to achieving comprehensive tax reform," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told Newsmax TV on Thursday.
"It's been over 30 years since we've done this," McConnell, the Kentucky Republican, said in an exclusive interview. "Our rates are too high.
"There are too many preferences.
"There's an excellent chance we will be able to achieve a pro-growth tax-reform package, hopefully sometime by the end of the year."

In addition, McConnell — now facing his sixth president since he was first elected to the Senate in 1984 — declined to comment on news reports about infighting among President Donald Trump's staff and the future of chief strategist Steve Bannon.
"One thing I decided a long time ago was to not comment on White House internal personnel matters," he told Newsmax. "It's not my responsibility — and, nor, do I want to give the president any advice about how to handle his own personnel."
