Former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., slammed NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick on Saturday for supporting Fidel Castro in comments he made earlier this week.
Kaepernick, while on a conference call with reporters ahead of the San Francisco 49ers' game against the Miami Dolphins this week, was asked why he wore a T-Shirt in August of Fidel Castro meeting Malcolm X.
"One thing that Fidel Castro did do is they have the highest literacy rate, because they invest more in their education system than they do in their prison system, which we do not do here, even though we're fully capable of doing that," Kaepernick said when asked about wearing the T-Shirt.
Huckabee has been a tough opponent of President Barack Obama's attempts at stabilizing relations with Cuba, tweeting in January earlier this year:
