The Twitter attacks between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz over their wives ramped up Wednesday, and MSNBC's
"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski Thursday dismissed the controversy as "stupid."
"I feel like in the first month of 'Morning Joe' nine years ago Joe [Scarborough] said that about the people talking to the different corners and getting in their own echo chambers and it's getting worse and worse and worse," Brzezinski said on the program.
"And here we are. I'm going to do this story. I don't think this is the issue. I think this is stupid."
The squabbles between Trump and Cruz began earlier this week when an anti-Trump super PAC, Make America Awesome, put out a Facebook ad in Utah showing a nude photograph of Trump's wife, Melania, from a photo shoot 16 years ago.
Cruz denied involvement, "but super PACs work with candidates, you just know it," Brzezinski said. And as a result, Trump tweeted a threat to "spill the beans," on Cruz's wife, Heidi.
Then, Wednesday night, Trump retweeted a meme of the wives side-by-side:
And Cruz replied:
"We have just wasted two minutes," a disgusted Brzezinski declared. "Going to move on."
And when a panel member asked if Cruz was trying to have matters both ways, she responded, "Who cares?"
"Hey, it's Twitter," Brzezinski said. "It's a tweet. Scroll past it. If we talk about it and Lou Dobbs does interviews about it and everybody talks about it more, it becomes bigger. Who cares?"
