Although real estate mogul Donald Trump still maintains a double-digit lead over his rivals Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, a new NBC News/SurveyMonkey tracking poll released Tuesday shows that after strong finishes in the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1, the two senators are "riding a new wave of momentum," Politico reports.

According to the poll:
  • Donald Trump, 35 percent;
  • Ted Cruz, 20 percent;
  • Marco Rubio, 17 percent;
  • Ben Carson, 7 percent;
The rest of the field is at 3 percent or less.

Trump is still ahead by 15 percentage points, but the poll notes that his overall support has dropped and Rubio has experienced the largest surge with 5 percentage points.

According to Politico, "Republicans and Republican-leaning voters are increasingly seeing Cruz and Rubio as threats to take the nomination away from Trump."

In terms of who Republicans believe will win the nomination:
  • 42 percent say Trump will win the nomination;
  • Three in 10 say Cruz will win the nomination;
  • 18 percent say Rubio will win the nomination;
Over on the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton still holds a 12-point lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

According to the poll among Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters:
  • Hillary Clinton, 51 percent;
  • Bernie Sanders, 39 percent;
And, in terms of who Democrats believe will win the nomination:
  • 71 percent say Clinton will win the nomination;
  • 27 percent say Sanders will win the nomination;
The survey of 10,707 adults — 9,484 of which who say they’re registered to vote — was conducted online Feb. 1-7.
