The New York Daily News, which has been outspoken the entire presidential campaign about its disdain for Donald Trump, fired off one more editorial to encourage readers to send him to defeat on Election Day.
Under the headline, "Stop The Don Con" and the underline, "Daily News to Voters: Today, send unqualified liar Donald Trump home and steady Hillary Clinton to the White House," the newspaper reviewed all the reasons it believed the Republican nominee should go down to defeat.
The paper says it "fervently hopes that reason conquers passion among those who, in their loathing of Clinton, are prepared to hand the nation to the most outrageously successful con man in presidential history," adding that "Trump is a master salesman and nothing more."
The editorial rips apart Trump on every front, including what they call his failed business deals and schemes that have left many in financial ruins.
Calling him a massive liar, the editorial also cites the nonpartisan PolitiFact, which "rated fully 70 percent of Trump's statements as mostly false, false or pants-on-fire false," while Clinton's equivalent figure is 26 percent.
The Daily News also reminds readers that Trump is the first major-party candidate in two generations to refuse to reveal his tax returns, which "certainly is an effort to evade scrutiny on a series of embarrassing, if not scandalous, revelations, and to prevent the public from probing complex conflicts of interest."
The paper also criticizes him for what it cites as his hubris, lack of foreign policy knowledge and support of conspiracy theories, as well as calling him a "fake philanthropist."
The editorial further scolds him for what it calls unprecedented racially and ethnically divisive rhetoric from a presidential candidate, as well as for policies the paper says he knows will not bring the promised results.
The Daily News acknowledges Clinton's drawbacks and says she has made some serious mistakes, but contends that "flaws and all, Clinton is the real deal with real ideas for leading the nation at home and abroad to a brighter future.
"Her campaign is the logical culmination of a life's work" and urges voters to choose her and "bar the White House door to the grifter."
