Christie, Bush Slam 'Petulant Child' Obama on Executive Actions

GOP presidential candidates Chris Christie and Jeb Bush criticized President Barack Obama's planned executive action on gun background checks on separate appearances on "Fox News Sunday."

"This president is a petulant child whenever he can't get what he wants," Christie said, pointing out that during his presidency, Obama's party has lost both houses of Congress and the number of Republican governors has risen from 21 to 31 "because frankly, the American people have rejected his agenda."

If Obama wants to make such changes he should go through Congress, Christie said. The executive actions already taken will likely be struck down by the courts, and if they are still in place, "when I become president, they will be stricken from executive action by executive action I will take."

Bush said he has yet to see Obama's plan, but, he added, Obama's "first impulse always is to take rights away from law-abiding citizens. It's wrong."

Bush suggested the approach he took as governor.

"We focused on punishing people that committed crimes with guns, but enhance and had protected the Second Amendment rights for law-abiding citizens," he said.
