GOP presidential primary front-runner Donald Trump is pulling away from his rivals —leading the field with 38 percent support, a new national poll finds.

According to the Washington Post/ABC News survey released Tuesday, Trump's support among registered Republicans and GOP-leaning independents is now 6 points higher than in October and November.

The poll also shows Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in second place with 15 percent — doubling his support since last month.

Here's the breakdown:
  • Trump: 38 percent
  • Cruz: 15 percent
  • Florida Sen. Marco Rubio: 12 percent
  • Retired neurosurgeon, Dr. Ben Carson: 12 percent
  • Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush: 5 percent
  • New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie: 4 percent
  • Ohio Gov. John Kasich: 2 percent
  • Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul: 2 percent
  • Former business executive, Carly Fiorina: 1 percent
  • South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham: 1 percent
  • Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: 1 percent

The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 6 percentage points in the sample of Republican and Republican-leaning voters.

Trump's dominating lead also was recorded in a Monmouth University poll released Monday, which gave the real estate billionaire 41 percent support nationally.
