Billionaire Richard Branson wrote a blog post saying he wanted an entrepreneur to become president one day, but he didn't want Donald Trump to be the one who does it.
"I would like to see an entrepreneur become President one day. I believe entrepreneurial thinking is incredibly valuable in leaders, and there are many entrepreneurs who I would be delighted to see in power — just not this one," Branson wrote, referring to Trump.
The billionaire founded the Virgin brand, which includes Virgin Records, the Virgin Atlantic airline, and other companies. He said that when he travels the world, he is always asked his opinion on U.S. politics. He said the upcoming vote would have "major implications on the rest of the world." So, he said, he wrote the blog post to discuss the idea of Trump as president.
"I wanted to share my view on why a Trump presidency would be a disaster," Branson wrote.
The Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, is "a safe pair of hands and a leader of supreme experience and knowhow." Branson said some of his entrepreneur friends are Republicans, but they told him they could not support the real-estate mogul because of "his extreme views, and his shocking ignorance of policy."
Being a great entrepreneur involves "being a good listener, putting others before yourself, being an effective delegator and striving to make a positive difference in the world," according to Branson, and, he added, "Great entrepreneurs build businesses with purpose at their heart and always treat people with respect."
Trump does not have those qualifications, Branson said.
"Mr. Trump's temperament is irrational, aggressive and he lacks informed ideas on how to grow jobs in America. An entrepreneur president would put that at the heart of his plans and yet, his fear-based campaign blames immigrants and open borders … there are too many examples of Trump's lack of empathy and respect to name. I agree with many on both sides of America's political aisle that he is unfit for office."
Clinton would continue on President Barack Obama's path of treating people with "respect, humility, and common sense," according to the billionaire.
Information about both candidates is available, and Branson called on voters to seek out facts and "remain curious."
"Don't be misled by uniformed, inflammatory remarks. With this in mind, make sure you vote for your future," he said.
The billionaire has criticized the Republican candidate before. Earlier in October, The Mirror reported that Branson said, "He speaks as a racist, he behaves as a racist. I think he is a dangerous man."
