One of the two people killed in a shootout with police following the deadly San Bernadino shooting attack on Wednesday has been identified as Syed Farook,
the Los Angeles Times reports.
Farook was an American citizen, and a person named Fyed R. Farook worked for the San Bernardino County Health Department, according to the Times. He was an environmental health specialist.
It is not clear, however, if that person is the same person involved in the attacks.
The event where
14 people were killed and 17 were injured at 11 a.m. local time Wednesday was hosting a conference for San Bernardino County Health Department employees.
Three shooters dressed in black reportedly carried out the attacks, and
NBC News is reporting that another suspect may be Farook's brother.
Farook was killed in the police shootout on a street about one mile from the initial killings. A female suspect also was killed in the shootout.
Police have detained a person who ran from the scene, but it is unclear if that person was actually involved. A fourth suspect is believed to still be at large.
Fox News Channel was not releasing the name Wednesday night, but did say police are searching the home of the person others are identifying as the suspect.
