Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took to social media on Wednesday to pat the nation on the back for electing Donald Trump president.
"Congratulations, America!" Palin, the 2008 presidential running mate of John McCain, said on her Facebook page.
Palin, who was an outspoken supporter of the Republican presidential nominee's presidential campaign, added:
"We cast the vote for the Trump movement because it was a vote for American exceptionalism, which leads to peace through our strength."
Palin has previously said Trump's controversial plan to build a 10-foot-high wall at the U.S.-Mexico border was one of his chief strengths in keeping support for his candidacy strong.
"Thank God he's still preaching that, because if he were not, then there would be a huge erosion of support," Palin told Fox News in August.
