Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is being considered for a position in President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet, as the secretary of Veterans Affairs, according to a tweet from ABC News.
Palin, who was the Republican vice-presidential candidate in 2008, was a supporter of Trump during his presidential campaign. After his win, she posted a message stating, "We cast the vote for the Trump movement because it was a vote for American exceptionalism."
The Hill reported earlier in November that Palin was being considered as a possibility to lead the Department of the Interior. Lawmakers questioned whether she would be up to date on policy regarding the department.
Her son, Track Palin, spent a year deployed in Iraq with the U.S. Army. In January, Palin said Track suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder that could be traced back to President Barack Obama, saying the president did little to support veterans.
Before he was the chief strategist for Trump, Steve Bannon planned to promote Palin in a run for the presidency.
"Gov. Palin has relayed to the Trump transition team her offer to continue helping the next President either in the public or private sector," an unnamed Palin adviser told NBC News.
And the adviser suggested veterans affairs would be a perfect fit for her.
"Sarah Palin has been an advocate for veterans throughout her entire career and knows we owe a debt of gratitude to past and present service members for protecting the freedom we cherish," the adviser said.
"She is proud to have been a very early supporter of a candidate who shares her belief in energizing our economy, securing our nation, and honoring our commitment to veterans."
