Rapper and music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs took to social media on Wednesday to express his outrage over a grand jury's decision to not indict a white New York City police officer in the chokehold death of Eric Garner, saying "I can't take it anymore."
"It's [e]nough, and enough is enough!"
he said on Instagram. "Honestly my emotions are all over the place.
"We as artists, myself included, all have to step up and be better leaders in our communities," Combs said. "It's a hard burden to bear, but we have been chosen whether we like it or not.
"We need to do whatever we can in a POSITIVE way, to help unite people of all colors in this injustice!"
A grand jury in Staten Island
declined to indict Patrolman Daniel Pantaleo in the July 17 death of Garner, 43, a father of six, who died shortly after he was arrested for selling single, untaxed cigarettes on the street.
Pantaleo, 29, an eight-year member of the force, applied the chokehold as he and three other officers wrestled Garner to the ground. The New York City Police Department banned use of the chokehold in 1993.
The other officers were granted immunity for the testimony before the 35-member grand jury.
In August, the New York City medical examiner ruled Garner's death as a homicide.
Attorney General Eric Holder said late Wednesday that the Justice Department would conduct a federal investigation into the death.
