Steve Bannon doesn't care about the backlash he's receiving as President-elect Donald Trump's chief strategist — and he has no plans to shake hands with any of his critics in a gesture of peace.
"He's got no intention of making peace with anybody," a source close to Bannon told The Hill.
Bannon has been holed up in Trump Tower all week as Trump's team chooses the people who will work in his administration. Bannon and chief of staff Reince Priebus were Trump's first two staff choices.
Critics say Bannon is a white nationalist, a label he told The Hollywood Reporter is not true.
The source told The Hill, "He gets a kick out of [the negative backlash. He doesn't care. He's just doing what he has to do."
Bannon's pledge to not extend an olive branch to his critics apparently applies to House Speaker Paul Ryan, who in the past has criticized Bannon and some of the political coverage on Breitbart News — an organization Bannon used to run. Some say the website draws a white nationalism crowd of readers.
The Hill's source said, "there is no apology tour or effort to focus on whether individual members in the House or Senate feel good."
Ryan said earlier this week he doesn't have any problem with Bannon serving as Trump's top advisor.
