Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz hit back Wednesday on Twitter after rival Donald Trump unleashed a torrent to posts — a "Trumper tantrum," the senator called it — saying that he "stole" the Iowa caucuses and calling for a new round of voting.

Here's Cruz's post:

Earlier Wednesday, Trump said that Cruz — who won the caucuses with 28 percent of the vote — "stole" the vote because his staffers passed out fliers telling Iowans that rival Ben Carson had dropped out of the race and should support him instead.

The developer said that Iowa state officials should void the results and order a new round of caucuses:

Later, Cruz told reporters in New Hampshire that Trump's rant proved that he lacked the temperament to be in the White House and attacked the media for encouraging a rift between him and Carson, who finished fourth in the caucuses.

"I wake up every day and laugh at the latest thing Donald has tweeted," the senator said.

"Because he's losing it.

"Look, we need a commander-in-chief, not a Twitterer-in-chief.

"There is a reason why the media is chattering about this," he added. "Because the media wants to stir up a fight between Ben Carson [and me]. I love Ben. I'm not interested in criticizing him."

"There is a reason why Donald Trump wants to focus on it. He wants a circus sideshow — and he knows the folks in media will happily oblige."
