Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has a 15-point lead in his home state of Texas ahead of Tuesday's primary, according to a new Monmouth University poll

Here are the results:
  • Ted Cruz: 38 percent
  • Donald Trump: 23 percent
  • Marco Rubio: 21 percent
  • Ben Carson: 6 percent
  • John Kasich: 5 percent

"Cruz looks to be well-positioned in Texas," said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute. "The challenge for him is that a lot of other states are also on the slate for Super Tuesday."

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton enjoys a 2-1 lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Lone Star State:
  • Hillary Clinton: 64 percent
  • Bernie Sanders: 30 percent

The poll was conducted Feb. 22 to 24, 2016 with 456 Texas voters likely to vote in the Republican presidential primary and 304 Texas voters likely to vote in the Democratic presidential primary. The Republican margin of error is plus-or-minus 4.6 percent, and the Democratic margin of error is 5.6 percent.
