Former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV on Wednesday that between Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, Cruz has the most conservative track record.

There is "no doubt" that Cruz has a more conservative track record, DeLay, the five-term Texas Republican who served from 2003 to 2005, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "Trump has no conservative track record," he added. DeLay has said in the past that he is no fan of Trump's.

DeLay's comments on  Trump mirror those of former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu who last week called Trump a "lefty liberal" who's "thin-skinned" and "all mouth" in an explosive interview with Newsmax TV.

"All his life he's been a lefty liberal, he supports Obamacare, he's all for eminent domain, he has told us he's very pro-life even on immigration. This guy has been a lifelong liberal on immigration and now he's a conservative all of a sudden?" Sununu said.

DeLay  told Newsmax that Hillary could be beaten. When asked who has a better chance of beating Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, DeLay's response was simple: "Any Republican can be an indicted Hillary," he said, chuckling.

DeLay notes that he'd hate to limit it between candidates Cruz and Trump "because Rubio's still in it and others could rise up."

DeLay reiterated, "I really believe that any of the Republicans could beat and indict Hillary Clinton."
