Doctor: Trump Will Be 'Healthiest Ever Elected' President

Doctor: Trump Will Be 'Healthiest Ever Elected' President

Monday, 14 December 2015 02:18 PM EST

Donald Trump's doctor says the GOP presidential contender had "astonishingly excellent" results in his last checkup, has dropped 15 pounds in a year, and only takes a daily low-dose of a statin to control his cholesterol and 81 mg of aspirin.

Dr. Harold Bornstein of Lenox Hill Hospital on Manhattan's Upper East Side also writes in a "To Whom It May Concern" open letter that Trump's prostate test score was a "very low" 0.15, and that "his physical strength and stamina are extraordinary."

"Over the past 39 years, I am pleased to report that Mr. Trump has had no significant medical problems," the internist and gastroenterologist writes, adding, "Mr. Trump has had a recent complete medical examination that showed only positive results. Actually, his blood pressure, 110/65, and laboratory tests results were astonishingly excellent."

Though Trump has lost weight over the last 12 months, the doctor didn't say what his current weight is.

The front-runner had his appendix taken out when he was 10, but has never had cancer or any other surgeries; the doctor rates Trump's "cardiovascular status" as "excellent," and notes he's had "no history" of drinking or smoking."

"If elected," the doctor declares, "Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency."

Trump posted the good news on his website.

"People have been impressed by my stamina, but to me it has been easy because I am truly doing something that I love," Trump says in a statement posted along with a link to the glowing letter, dated December 4, from the doctor.
