Real estate mogul Donald Trump is still significantly leading the Republican field, a new NBC SurveyMonkey weekly online tracking poll released Monday shows. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton's advantage over Bernie Sanders has narrowed to its smallest in the last seven weeks,
Politico reports.
According to the poll:
- Donald Trump, 38 percent;
- Ted Cruz, 18 percent;
- Marco Rubio, 14 percent;
- Ben Carson, 7 percent;
- John Kasich, 7 percent for Kasich;
- Jeb Bush, 4 percent
Regardless of voter's preference of who they expect to win the nomination:
- 56 percent said Trump, which is up from 42 last week;
- 22 percent feel the same way about Cruz;
- 10 percent expect Rubio
Meanwhile on the Democratic side, Clinton is leading Sanders 50 to 40 percent, the smallest lead she has carried in the last seven months.
And heading into the South Carolina primary, Politico notes that Sanders holds a "narrow 3-point advantage over Clinton (47 percent to 44 percent) among white voters."
The poll was conducted online from Feb. 8-14, surveying 11,417 registered voters nationwide. The survey's overall margin of error is plus or minus 1.1 percentage points.
