Donald Trump on Friday demanded that President Barack Obama not pardon Hillary Clinton for "crimes against our country" and that the former secretary of state prohibit the five people receiving immunity in the email probe from working in her White House.
"Here's my question to Hillary Clinton," the Republican nominee told supporters in Novi, Mich., west of Detroit. "Can you promise that not one of the five people who were granted criminal immunity will ever be allowed to serve in a Clinton administration if that ever happens?
"Oh, would that be bad," Trump said. "Let's see what happens.
"Here's a demand I'm making today to President Obama," the candidate continued. "Mr. President, will you pledge not to issue a pardon to Hillary Clinton and her co-conspirators for their many crimes against our country and against society itself?
"Will you make that pledge?" Trump asked. "No one is above the law."
In July, Attorney General Loretta Lynch closed the FBI's yearlong investigation of Clinton's use of her private email and server in her home in New York without bringing charges against the former first lady or any of her aides.
Lynch accepted the findings of FBI Director James Comey, who said the week before that Clinton and her aides were "extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information" but recommended that no charges be filed in the case.
Trump broadly slammed Clinton on the email probe during the rally, at the Suburban Collection Showplace.
"Clinton and her cronies will say anything, do anything, lie about anything to keep their grip on power, to keep their control over our country," he said.
Trump also reminded supporters of when former President Bill Clinton "pardoned a fugitive" — Marc Rich — on his last day in office in 2001.
Rich was charged with making oil deals with Iran during the hostage crisis. He was in Switzerland when he was indicted and never returned to the U.S., making the FBI's "Most Wanted" list.
He died in 2013 at age 78.
"This was a serious fugitive, Marc Rich, in exchange for unknown and undisclosed amounts of money," Trump said. "You remember that? Marc Rich. Famous Mark Rich.
"People couldn't believe it," Trump said.
"The American people have had it with years or decades of Clinton corruption and scandals."
