Donald Trump may have finally worn out his welcome among Americans in the 2016 presidential race.
Politico reports that the Republican front-runner is becoming more and more disliked by voters, threatening his chances to capture the GOP nomination.
"Trump is, by far, the GOP delegate leader
— and the only candidate with a realistic shot at winning a majority of delegates before the July convention," Politico's Steven Shepard writes. "But at the same time, nearly two-thirds of Americans view Trump unfavorably — and his image rating has declined since Republican voting began in February."
According to Politico, Trump's plummeting popularity has jeopardized his standing in upcoming state primaries.
The political website says if Trump loses some of these states, it will be more difficult for him to amass the 1,237 delegates needed to avoid a brokered convention this summer.
But Trump could also still rally and win enough delegates to avoid a convention bloodbath, a fete that would then likely unify the party as it takes on Hillary Clinton.
