Donald Trump delivered a right hook to Mitt Romney's bank account on Friday, bragging that he's "much richer" than the former Massachusetts governor who said nasty things about him this week.

"He's an elitist, but I don't consider him elite because I'm much richer than he is," Trump said during a spirited campaign stop in Warren, Mich., The Hill reports.

The Republican presidential front-runner also boasted that the Gucci store in his Trump Tower building along New York City's Fifth Avenue is worth more money alone than Romney.

That luxury brands shop, located in what is considered some of the most expensive retail space in the world, has been estimated to be worth from $400 million to more than $1 billion.

During the rally, Trump also ridiculed Romney for his stinging loss to President Barack Obama in 2012, blaming it partly on the release of a secret recording of Romney suggesting that 47 percent of the nation is dependent on government handouts.

"In one speech, he lost 47 percent of the voters. This is not a smart guy. He is a dumb guy. I've always said he's a dumb guy," Trump said.

His insults were payback for the extraordinary press conference Romney held Thursday in Salt Lake City — a "state of the presidential election.'

In his speech Friday, Romney called Trump a "phony" and a "fraud" whose domestic policies would lead to recession.

Only four years ago, Romney asked for and got Trump's endorsement for his presidential run.
