President Donald Trump on Friday slammed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer through a tweet, saying his administration doesn't "need his advice" when it comes to negotiating with North Korea.
The president's attack comes after Schumer warned through a tweet of his own Thursday afternoon that Trump should not take the negotiations lightly.
"With ICBMs and nuclear warheads in the hands of North Korea, the situation is far too dangerous for seat of the pants negotiating," Schumer posted, while retweeting a quote from a Reuters article that quoted Trump as saying about the upcoming summit that he does not "think I have to prepare very much."
Trump made his comments before starting a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, where they discussed issues about Tuesday's Singapore summit.
"I think I've been prepared for this summit for a long time, as has the other side," Trump said. "I think they've been preparing for a long time also. So, this isn't a question of preparation; it's a question of whether or not people want it to happen."
Pelosi also slammed Trump for his actions with Chinese telecommunications firm ZTE.
