President Donald Trump has reportedly selected his nominee for the Supreme Court ahead of his Monday evening announcement.
Fox News reported that Trump has chosen who he hopes will be the next associate justice on the nation's highest court. CNN later reported sources had told the news channel the same thing.
It is believed that Trump's final list contained four judges already on the federal bench: Amy Coney Barrett, Thomas Hardiman, Brett Kavanaugh, and Raymond Kethledge.
Trump tweeted earlier Monday that he will publicly announce his choice during a 9 p.m. White House news conference:
Trump earned the right to choose the second Supreme Court justice of his presidency when Justice Anthony Kennedy revealed nearly two weeks ago that he will retire at the end of July.
