President Donald Trump Saturday called out NBC News for its coverage of Russia's interference in the 2016 election, insisting that more coverage be devoted to the "Obama surveillance scandal."
In a pair of tweets, posted at around 8 a.m., Trump both lambasted "Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd" and accused the "Fake News Media" of pushing the "phony" Russia story:
Trump did not specify in the tweets which NBC stories he was speaking about, notes The Hill. On Friday, Todd interviewed both Washington attorney Abbe Lowell and former Obama press secretary John Earnest, now a political consultant for NBC and MSNBC, on his "MTP Daily" program about the latest news on Russia.
In his segment, Earnest discussed what former President Barack Obama's administration knew about Russian interference.
The subject of Russian interference in the 2016 election is under investigations by both the House and Senate Intelligence committees, as well as the FBI. In addition, former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has offered to be interviewed by the committees and the FBI, in exchange for immunity.
