Fresh off his commanding victory in the South Carolina primary, Donald Trump tweeted Sunday morning that The Wall Street Journal should get rid of its pollster for saying Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was beating him.
A
Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll last week was an outlier from other GOP polls, giving Cruz a two-point lead nationally. A higher percentage of respondents to the poll identified themselves as very conservative than have in other such polls that showed Trump with a double-digit lead over Cruz.
The same poll did, however, say Trump was leading Cruz in South Carolina.
In the end, Cruz finished a close third to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who picked up key endorsements from top Republicans in South Carolina, including Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy.
