Rep. Fred Upton said that his bill that was approved by the House of Representatives on Friday "finally prompted" President Barack Obama to pledge to help Americans who lost their health insurance under Obamacare.
“Until they saw that we were going to have some 300 votes a couple days ago, they were just going to sit on their hands,” the Michigan Republican told CNN “That finally prompted the White House yesterday afternoon to announce this administrative change that they’re trying to do.”
“But until then, they were willing — ready and willing — to let literally millions of folks who were going to lose their individual policies … go over the edge,” he added.

Upton's bill, the Keep Your Plan Act,
passed on a 261-157 vote. It would allow insurers to continue selling policies for another year that don't meet Obamacare requirements.
Thirty-nine Democrats broke ranks and backed Upton's proposal.
The previous day, Obama promised that he would grant a one-year reprieve to Americans whose health policies had been canceled.
“We’re trying to remedy some of these situations and not leave our constituents high and dry with nothing to show for it,” Upton told CNN.
He added, however, that “there’s not a Republican out there that wouldn’t like to repeal it.”
