House Lawman Sees No Larger Threat to Congress

WASHINGTON (AP) — The top law enforcement official in the House says the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona does not appear to be part of a larger threat against Congress or to have a connection to terrorism.

Still, the sergeant-at-arms, Bill Livingood, told each House member's office in an e-mail Saturday evening to get in touch with local law enforcement officials, as a precaution.

The e-mail was sent to all House staff and provided to The Associated Press.
