A new poll conducted Thursday for the Southern Political Report gives Sen. Barack Obama an edge over Sen. Hillary Clinton in Virginia as both candidates stump hard in that state.
The poll shows Obama leading with 52 percent of the vote, compared to 37 percent for Clinton. Ten percent of voters were undecided.
Obama won the African-American vote in the survey -- while the two candidates evenly divided the white vote.
Obama campaign manager David Plouffe stopped short of predicting victory for his boss in the Old Dominion.
"Virginia is going to be a big battleground," Plouffe said. "We're trying to do as well as we can in each of these states coming up. We're just hoping to end up on the high side of delegates by the end of Tuesday night."
