In the days after the tragic Arizona shooting, many liberals suggested that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin may have been partly to blame. Most Americans disagree, according to a new poll from CNN/Opinion Research, Politico reports.
The survey shows that only 35 percent of Americans say Palin deserves any blame, and 59 percent say she deserves little or no blame. The resources available to deal with mental illness represent the leading target for blame listed by respondents, with 70 percent saying that’s the most important issue.
The shooting tragedy did little to convince Americans we need more gun control, with 69 percent of respondents saying the incident hasn’t changed their views on gun control. That compares to 28 percent who say the shooting made them “more likely” to support stricter gun control, and 3 percent who say it makes them “less likely” to back more gun control.
