President Obama delivered his “New Beginnings” speech in Cairo, Egypt, on June 4, 2009, when he addressed the Islamic world, declaring that “Islam has always been a part of American history.” The Cairo speech was an apology to Islam; and over the years, radical Islam has fed on Obama’s criticism of America’s arrogance.
The recent beheadings of two American journalists by Islamic terrorists assures Islam’s part in American history, but not exactly as Obama suggested, nor will his war on ISIS stop ideological jihad.
The Obama administration tries in vain to assure the American people that no Islamic terrorists are entering the country but fails to consider Islamic terrorists who are already here. Male and female Islamic terrorists are undocumented aliens, legal permanent residents (LPRs), and U.S.-born or naturalized U.S. citizens, who are Muslim by birth or conversion.
Presidential spin and news media omissions cannot change the fact that border security and passport controls are ineffective. The open southern border and the recent surge of unaccompanied children refute the Obama assertions of border control.
The failure of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to control U.S. borders is symptomatic of a disinterested administration. DHS numbers on border control apprehensions have enough helium in them to float a dirigible, and DHS has no idea how many naturalized Americans were improperly vetted and screened before being naturalized.
Unreported numbers of Somali residents have left the United States to fight for ISIS, Al Shabaab, or other Muslim terror groups. Many are returning battle-hardened and hardcore religious/political ideologues intent on bringing the fight to America. Lacking effective passport control, the DHS (including the FBI) apparently has no clue as to the number or identity of these terrorist fighters. As of September 23, the Obama administration was trying to locate one returning Islamic fighter, and many more are returning.
The Boston Marathon bombers were a DHS failure of vetting and screening of two immigrant Islamic terrorists. The 2010 would-be Times Square bomber, Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen, when asked by the sentencing judge if he had sworn allegiance to America, replied, “I sweared, but I didn’t mean it.” How many naturalized-citizen terrorists have lied to cover their planned attacks on America? How many sleeper agents for Islamic jihad against America have been granted U.S. citizenship?
During the past decade, Denmark, England, France, Spain, and Sweden have experienced Islamic terrorist attacks as a result of lax immigration policies. Muslim women and men with faces covered have been photographed in Europe with such signs as “Be prepared for the real holocaust,” “Behead those who mock Islam,” and “Islam will dominate the world.”
The U.S. news media refuses to show these pictures or face reality about jihadists.
Democrats and the radical left have deluded the American people that there is no such thing as Islamic jihad. Only since the beheading of two Americans by ISIS has Obama been forced to admit that “global terrorists” (still not identifying them as Muslims) are a real and present danger to the United States.
DHS shortcomings in border control and passport regulation are well known to jihadists. Rather than being uneducated, unsophisticated, lost souls, they are educated, tech-savvy, well-financed, politically and religiously motivated zealots. As a German terror expert stated about home-grown terrorists, “Outwardly they pretend to lead a modern lifestyle, but deep inside, they adhere to a pure medieval strain of Islam.”
Federal and local officials have shied away from identifying killings by Muslims in the United States as terrorist acts. In July 2006, when Naveel Afzad Haq shot six people, killing one, at the Seattle Jewish Federation building, a witness stated that Haq shouted, “I’m Muslim-American. I am angry at Israel.” Local authorities and the FBI refused to declare this act terrorism.
In October 2008, after Minneapolis resident and naturalized citizen Shirwa Ahmed died as a suicide bomber in Somalia, the FBI brought his remains back for burial, although for all intents Ahmed had renounced his U.S. citizenship. At the time, no one would call Ahmed a terrorist.
In June 2009, in Little Rock, Arkansas, a convert to Islam, Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, killed one U.S. soldier and wounded another outside a military recruitment office. The U.S. Justice Department would not list Muhammad as a terrorist.
The Fort Hood killings were designated as “workplace violence” rather than the Islamic terror attack which killed 13 and wounded 32.
In June 2014, an admitted American jihadist said he killed Brendan Tevlin, a 19-year-old college student, to avenge Muslim deaths in Iraq and Syria, and the news media ignored the killing. The Obama administration refused to acknowledge the killer as a terrorist.
During the past decade, numerous Islamic terror attacks on U.S. citizens have occurred, and few were classified as such. It is time to recognize acts of Islamic terrorism.
