An upbeat message of “hope and opportunity” is what the President plans when he delivers the State of the Union address Tuesday night.
According to a senior Administration official who spoke to Newsmax on background said that the President will emphasize the fruits of his tax reform package last year—notably, the increased wages American workers are getting and the decreased unemployment among minorities.
Mr. Trump will also make a strong appeal for the immigration reform measure for which he is trying to win Democratic support in the Senate, the same official told us.
The President’s goal of overhauling the nation’s infrastructure will receive significant attention in his address. When he spoke privately to a small group of reporters at the White House (including Newsmax) on April 24, Mr. Trump strongly emphasized his desire to eventually do something big involving the nation’s bridges and highways.
“The best public relations person in the U.S.,” he said at the time, “is the one who convinced us that our bridges were the best in the world.” He went on to describe some of the dangers to drivers on key bridges nationwide and vowed to do something about it.
Another topic that the President will touch on in his coming address are his efforts to update current trade agreements such as NAFTA the official told us.
The same official said that while the President will speak of the dangers we face from North Korea, “this is primarily a domestic policy address” and foreign policy would be downplayed.
